Our mission is to bridge cultural divides and build lasting friendships between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. Through a myriad of cultural events, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives, we aim to share the unique traditions, language, and history of Kazakhstan with a wider audience. Ismail Kesici
Distinguished Chairman
Ismail Kesici, kazakh, born in 1962 in Altay Koy, Turkey. With an Electronic Engineering degree from Trakya University, he initially worked for Sony-Audio-Video and Gunes Newspaper. Moving to London in 1986, he ventured into the textile and leather industry, and by 1991, helped set up ‘Kazakhstan Commerce’ in London. From 1992 to 2000, he embarked on entrepreneurial efforts linking Kazakhstan and Europe. In 2000, he co-founded and led the UK Kazakh Association, fostering ties with Kazakh and European cultural groups. Under his leadership, the association worked closely with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK, organized significant Kazakh cultural and economic events in Europe, and established Federation of European Kazakh Associations to unify Kazakh communities across Europe. He also managed significant events like the Kazakhstan Kurultai in London and a Youth Conference in 2016, celebrating 500 years of Kazakh statehood.

Kamshat Kumisbay
Director
Kamshat Kumisbay brings over 15 years of dedicated diplomatic service to the helm of this vital cultural institution. Currently, on maternity leave, she is actively engaged in the establishment and growth of the Centre, driven by a deep passion for Kazakh culture and the promotion of the Kazakh language.
In her most recent role as the First Secretary at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK, Kamshat concluded a robust portfolio of assignments with a focus on economic affairs. She was instrumental in attracting investment to Kazakhstan, orchestrating key economic and investment forums in London, and organizing an array of cultural events that celebrate the diverse tapestry of Kazakh traditions.
Throughout Kumisbay’s diplomatic tenure, she has cultivated vast networks within both the UK and Kazakhstan’s business, government, and arts circles. This experience has established her as a linchpin in fostering bilateral cooperation and cultural exchange, a role she is committed to continuing.

Aliya Kanatbekqyzy Scruton
Head of Kazakh Speaking Club
Born and raised in Kazakhstan, Aliya relocated to London in 2000, driven by a desire to build bridges between her homeland and her adopted country. With a deep-rooted passion for both Kazakhstan and the UK, Aliya is committed to enhancing and fostering the relationship between the two nations.
Her diverse career path spans education, IT, business, and management, culminating in an MSc in International Business Management and Marketing. Currently, she channels her expertise as an angel investor, supporting startups, particularly in the technology and environmental sectors.
Fluent in Kazakh, English, and Russian, and having lived in Kazakhstan, England, and India, Aliya’s diverse background enriches her capacity to connect and collaborate across cultures. Married and having raised three children, she balances her professional pursuits with her family commitments, embodying resilience, and determination in all aspects of her life.
